August 16 marked the second annual National Backflow Prevention Day in the U.S., an official event created by Watts to highlight the importance of backflow prevention, educate the public about how this life-saving technology is used, and recognize the water quality professionals responsible for installing and maintaining backflow preventers.

To acknowledge the day, Watts and its various stakeholders participated in exciting events related to the 2022 "Safe Water, Safe World" theme.

More than 315 engineers participated in a Backflow Prevention CEU webinar course, which helps professionals maintain their license and further their industry skills.

A live event on YouTube was broadcasted to discuss several initiatives in backflow prevention and provide a demonstration of two of our innovative technologies, the Ames fire tamper switch and our flood sensor. The video also included a tour of how backflow preventers are manufactured at our facilities. Thus far, the event has received more than 630 views.

Through August 31, Watts Works Online is offering promotions where double tokens will be offered on all backflow prevention courses to eligible users, and those who complete 15 or more backflow prevention courses will be awarded a digital completion certificate, and a free National Backflow Prevention Day hat. Thus far, more than 6,250 courses have been taken throughout the month.

The Watts Instagram page is currently holding a photo contest for all followers. To enter to win a Cuisinart 14" portable charcoal grill or a Cuisinart deluxe stainless-steel grill set, simply follow @Wattswater on Instagram using the link below and share an original photo of a Watts backflow preventer with the hashtag #backflowday by August 31.

We can’t wait to see what next year’s celebration looks like!
