Major Canadian Brewery Opens on Time with Quick-to-Install BLŰCHER Components
What the Customer Needed
One of the largest breweries in the province of Quebec recently moved its Montreal production plant to a new 1 million square foot building about 15 miles away. The old brewery facility was already sold so project deadlines were extremely tight and could not be extended. The contractor needed solutions designed to be installed quickly.
A new drainage system, including piping and drains, was required for all the departments of the new plant, including brewing and packaging. (Water and chemical products are important parts of the effluent in a brewery.) Owners were looking for a hygienic solution that supported their goals of reducing water consumption within the facility.
Solution
After reviewing various solutions, the plumbing contractor and project engineer chose to specify and install the BLŰCHER stainless-steel drainage system, including pipe, floor drains, and trench drains. Size 2-to 12-inch BLŰCHER pipe was installed throughout the site (over 12 km. of piping), and the pipe installation went so quickly that the contractor reduced installation time by half!
The BLŰCHER floor and trench drains also helped support project goals to reduce the quantity of water used to clean the space and maintain the cleanliness of all the departments. This is due to the unique design of the channel. The products were also in keeping with goals to safeguard the environment and install highly reliable products. (Stainless-steel is recyclable and much longer lasting than other materials.)
In addition, project planners chose stainless-steel BLŰCHER floor drains because they feature an angle-designed basket for convenient cleaning and a cast 304/316 stainless steel body with push fit connections for reliability and long life.
Results
This major brewery installed BLŰCHER pipe and drains/trench in all their departments, and the project was delivered on time. The drainage system is up and running and continues to perform well. The stainless-steel drainage system is helping protect the plant against contamination and bacteria growth, and it is helping to conserve water during cleaning operations.
