Solid Secure Drainage for a Manhattan Kansas Joint Maintenance Facility
What the Customer Needed
In 2021, the city of Manhattan, Kansas, began work on a new building for town vehicles. The facility was being set up as a future service center to provide maintenance and upkeep for vehicles such as snow plows, bucket trucks, and more.
Trenches of varying lengths were planned for the middle of each service center bay. They would be slightly submerged to permit runoff from washing solutions or other liquids. The trench drains needed to be solid and secure—able to withstand the weight and movement of the vehicles in the maintenance facility.
Solution
After reviewing several options, project planners decided to install 518 feet of Watts Dead Level® trench drains with ductile iron frames and grates. The Dead Level’s rugged cast-iron frames, installed in eight different runs, could easily withstand the weight of the vehicles while providing stable, long-lasting drainage capabilities. Their pre-sloped design and straight, level runs, also allowed for quick and easy installation in the field.
