Supporting an Innovative Open-Air Office Village
What the Client Needed
Innovation Park in Irvine, California, is an open-air office village with loft-style buildings and innovative features supporting indoor-outdoor working. With building begun during the pandemic, the office complex includes significant green space to contribute to the site’s ambiance and encourage a return to the office.
The site’s massive green space is supported by an irrigation system using reclaimed water. To have adequate water available, the water needs to be filtered of sediment and other debris to protect irrigation equipment and keep it running properly.
Solution
In 2021, the landscape contractor installed five Watts 97FB-CSSIB basket strainers downstream of the backflow valves in the system. The strainers are an important component to protect irrigation systems.
The stainless-steel properties of the strainers supported project goals to save energy, safeguard the environment, and install highly reliable products. As a project participant noted, recycled water eats up pipe, and stainless-steel is durable and holds up best. Series 97FB-CSSIB 316 Stainless Steel Flanged Basket Strainers feature an angle-designed basket for convenience, a cast 316 stainless steel body with flanged connections for reliability and long life, and a stainless-steel screen, bolted retainer cap and stainless-steel blow-off plug.
Results (ROI)
Innovation Park opened for business as the first open air office village designed for health and wellness. The irrigation system is up and running and the strainers continue to perform well. They are protecting other equipment in the irrigation system and preventing water waste due to leaks. They are helping deliver the water needed to maintain a beautiful space.
