Empowering a Texas Water Treatment Plant to Better Analyze Water Quality

What the Client Needed

The City of Beaumont Water Production site operates a 40 MGD (millions of gallons per day) surface water treatment plant and a 14 MGD groundwater treatment plant. Both facilities serve a population of 112,000 with an average daily demand of approximately 32 MGD.

The water treatment plant had been dealing with availability as well as accuracy and reliability issues with their analyzers. To ensure continued delivery of safe water to the Beaumont community, they needed to improve the performance of their instrumentation.

Solution

To achieve this, Beaumont turned to HF scientific who recommended the MCX Monochloramine Analyzer.

The MCX (which measures the closing concentration of two chemicals used to treat potable water) is designed for 30 days of unattended operation between reagent changes.

The MCX features easy to understand analytics which are produced every 15 to 20 minutes.

Results (ROI)

The new monitoring solutions are delivering accuracy, reliability, and readily available reagents. Daniel Baquera, Assistant Superintendent, City of Beaumont Water Treatment Plant, points to great customer service from HF scientific as the final selling point.

The MCX has operated smoothly for three months, as opposed to less than one full month of operation from previous monochloramine analyzers. This has minimized downtime and delivered savings with lower costs of reagents and maintenance. The accurate data allowed the staff to make good decisions and work to control nitrification in the system.
